It’s not quite streaming from your PC, as you could do on the Xbox 360, but Microsoft announced today that you’ll be able to upload your personal music collection to OneDrive, and be able to listen on your Xbox One. While I, for one, still am holding out for the option to stream my collection, this is still an exciting development. Before you get started here, there are a few things you should know.
You will still be limited to the size of your OneDrive storage, but if you have an Xbox Music pass, that storage will be increased by 100 Gigabytes. Even if you’ve paid to make your storage huge, you’ll still be limited to 50,000 songs (which is more than enough for most of us). You can use MP3, MP4, AAC, and WMA audio files (sorry to those who like iTunes or Apple’s audio formats). The ability to listen to your library will be available on Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Windows phone, computer, or tablet using Windows 8.1 (8.0 won’t cut it), or on a web browser at the Xbox Music site.
