Demon Zoo
Welcome to Deck of the Week, brought to you by Ritterific. In this weekly column, I just want to give people a few deck ideas to rank up the ladder with, maybe build your own version, or at the very least, have fun with. I will try to add some insightful commentary as well, but keep in mind, I don’t play Hearthstone professionally.
Most of my decks will be from other players who have more time to thoroughly test them, and I will always try to give credit to the deck’s creator, provided I can find a direct source.
This week’s deck is by williedills over at hearthhead.com. A link to his original article with his personal analysis can be found here.
This is a zoo type deck which means it’s focus is on cheap minions and lots of them. This version focuses on the warlock class’s demon synergy thanks to the Voidcaller card. Being able to get your Doomguard or Malganis for free is incredible value and can sometimes outright win you the game.
The other hero of the deck is the Imp Gang Boss. Each imp that this card spawns just adds to it’s value, and it trades well with other 2 and 3 mana drops. The imps that spawn can also generate more value if you buff them with cards like Defender of Argus or Abusive Sergeant to trade up into stronger minions.
The basic strategy with this deck is to flood the board with low cost minions, then maintain board control with smart trades. Getting face damage in when you can is important, but keeping board control should be your top priority. Cards like Power Overwhelming and Doomguard can then be used to finish off your opponent.
The zoo archetype has been in Hearthstone for a long time and this version looks both fun and effective. If you have questions or want to challenge me to a friendly match, PM me at ritterific@agentsofgame.com for a friend request.
