Hearthstone’s next expansion, The Grand Tournament, is coming sometime in August and Blizzard is introducing all the new cards and mechanics. Today they released a break down of the new card mechanic “Inspire.”
Inspire triggers when you use your hero power, and it effects all friendly minions with the keyword on the card. That means if your board is loaded up with 3 or 4 Inspire effects, you can trigger them all for just 2 mana. Some of the Inspire actions released seem really great, while some of them (like the one on the Argent Watchmen card revealed today) seem a bit lackluster.
There is also a legendary card that will buff your hero power until the end of the game, Justicar Trueheart. You can find the article explaining how the enhanced hero powers work here.
For now, we can only guess at the impact of this emphasis on hero powers for this expansion. Some of them, such as the mage and warlock hero powers, which have always been strong, seem to just stand to get better. Others, like the shaman or paladin ones, which haven’t been faring so well lately, still feel a little weak, even after seeing buffs from cards like Justicar Trueheart.
Inspire is definitely going to shake up the meta game though, and we’ll just have to wait and see which classes rise to the top. The full Blizzard Post is below:

The courageous deeds of champions have long served as a source of inner strength for others, and witnessing a hero’s gallantry in action can be enough to inspire even the lowliest of squires to great feats of strength. In Hearthstone’s second expansion, The Grand Tournament, a host of minions are just waiting to be inspired by your actions!
Today, we’re taking a look at the new keyword, Inspire.
The new Inspire keyword triggers after you use your Hero Power, and affects any friendly minions on the board that have the Inspire keyword. Inspired minions can gain stats, attract additional allies to your cause, and so much more. If there’s one thing a Hero can always use, it’s more allies!
Argent Watchman might not look like the most fearsome of fighters, but he’s just waiting to be inspired to new heights. Make use of your Hero Power while he’s on the board, and he’ll take flight to take the fight to your foes!
Hero Powers are primed to be more important than ever in The Grand Tournament. Prepare your monologues, clad your steed in its finest barding, and inspire your troops to great victory!
