Gamescom just blew the Nexus wide open. As part of the event, Blizzard announced a new battleground and revealed 3 new playable heroes, including fan favorite, Rexxar!
First, we get a name to put with the monk hero revealed with the Eternal Conflict, Kharazim. He is the first support class to come from the Diablo universe and has some new mechanics to boot. In true monk style, players can select three different paths, through talents, that unlock unique traits (a hero’s special bonus power, usually a passive buff).
From the StarCraft universe comes Artanis, the first melee warrior from that universe. Then there is Rexxar, a Warcraft staple since his debut back in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. Rexxar is of course aided by his loyal companion, Misha the bear, and he appears to be the first hero to bring the pet mechanic into Heroes of the Storm.
Infernal Shrines is the new battleground coming from the Diablo universe. It’s key feature is three shrines that will unleash a Punisher to fight your foes. This boss character is unique because it will actively attack enemy heroes instead of just mindlessly pushing a lane.
Here is the official Blizzard post with all the videos, including Kharazim’s hero trailer!

The action is underway at gamescom 2015, and we’ve got all the latest news from the Nexus. Today, we announced three new Heroes and an exciting new Battleground—so let’s get to the details!
Kharazim
As the Eternal Conflict rages on, a new defender of Sanctuary prepares to enter the fray. Kharazim, Monk of Ivgorod, the first support character from the Diablo universe, will bring inner peace to his allies—and pain to his enemies. He’s a mobile melee Hero who can specialize in different paths by choosing one of three traits via his talents. Kharazim can select Iron Fists to gain bonus attack damage, Transcendence to heal himself through melee combat, or Insight to restore mana and find a balance between both offensive and defensive roles.
Infernal Shrines
Kharazim won’t be the only new addition coming from Sanctuary. Infernal Shrines is a three-lane Diablo-themed Battleground featuring three shrines that will periodically gather power. Teams can unleash this power by activating a shrine, defeating its guardians, and summoning a devastating Punisher to fight for them. These powerful bosses will spawn with one of three deadly affixes—Arcane, Frozen, or Mortar— and will hunt down nearby enemy Heroes as well as pushing the lane closest to their shrine.
Rexxar
Charging into the brawl from Azeroth is the legendary beastmaster, Rexxar, and his loyal bear, Misha. He’s a unique ranged warrior, who calls on his ferocious companion to follow him around the battlefield and attack his foes. Misha is integral to Rexxar’s gameplay, harassing enemies, absorbing damage, and stunning enemy characters with a targeted charge ability.
Artanis
If you’re the kind of player who prefers warriors that get up close and personal with their enemies, Artanis may be just the Hero for you. The leader of the Protoss will soon join the fight as the first StarCraft warrior, and he’ll be bringing some heavy hitting abilities with him.
