So, it may be fairly obvious that I’m a bit of a Blizzard fanboy. That being the case, I am pretty excited for Blizzard’s first try at a first person shooter, a game they are calling “Overwatch.” Fortunately, Gamescom was a big stepping stone for the game.
The first big step that took place in conjunction with Gamescom was the addition of the game logo to the Blizzard Launcher (this is also what spurred me to start covering the game). According to the official website, the beta is set to begin in Fall of 2015. You can also sign up on the website by logging into your battle.net account and selecting it from the list of games you are interested in. If you are interested, I suggest you go do it soon, as things will only be speeding up from this point.
Most of the Overwatch information released so far has been videos. Blizzard released a few of them at Gamescom, one introducing a new playable character, Lucio, and the other revealing 2 game maps, Volskaya Industries and Numbani. Both videos are shown below, along with a gameplay trailer and the cinematic trailer.
Enjoy!
