Welcome to the Agency Brief for September 7th 2021.
Alan Wake Remastered
Sam Lake of Remedy officially announced today that Alan Wake is almost finished with the remaster process, and while the original was an Xbox exclusive, which later made its way to PC, the remaster will be available this fall on Xbox, PC through the Epic Game Store, and for the the first time ever, on Playstation. We’re not sure what the remaster entails that makes it worth repurchasing if you already own a copy of the game, but if you haven’t played it yet, this is definitely something that should be on your radar.
Fallout 76 Season 6, Update 30
Wednesday September 8th Update 30 releases for Fallout 76, ushering in Season 6 of the Scoreboard, which is themed after the Unstoppables, and brings in a bunch of related cosmetics and skins, as well as two new themed companions which can be unlocked at levels 25 and 50 of the Scoreboard. There’s also a second expansion of the Daily Ops bringing new maps, new enemy types, and double mutation events which will also double our rewards for completing them. With the removal of Nuclear Winter, some of the rewards will now be locked to players who completed the requirements already, however most can be earned through completing events in the game, as well as seasonal events. No Man’s Sky Frontiers and Season 3
Last week the No Man’s Sky Frontiers update dropped, allowing players to become Mayor McSpace of their own settlements. Since the release, there have been multiple patches to help fix some of the issues that were slowing player progress, and it seems much more stable at the moment. Beyond the new settlements, the base building system has been completely overhauled, mostly for the better, and hundreds of new building pieces have been added to the game. While the timing suggests this is an anniversary update, the game only moved to 3.6, and season three of the expeditions hasn’t yet begun, so we’re cautiously optimistic that a more substantial update could still be upcoming.
Sony Showcase Thursday Sept 9th
Sony is scheduled to have a game showcase this Thursday September 9th, so if you’ve got a playstation, it might be a good time to check in and see what you can look forward to this fall, and in the coming years.
Game and Movie Releases
Shang Chi and Legend of the Ten Rings released this week, and all of us who have watched it loved the movie itself, as well as all the possibilities that Marvel’s phase four is bringing us. If you don’t feel comfortable watching it with Delta raging (and maybe your community isn’t the most on top of safety measures), it should be available on Disney Plus next month. Or, you could rent out your local theatre for a private showing with you and some of your closest friends (which sometimes is actually cheaper than buying tickets normally).
Psychonauts 2
For fans of the quirky Psychonauts from the original Xbox and Playstation 2, as well as people who never had the privilege of playing the previous version, should consider trying out Psychonauts 2, especially if you can play it for free through Game Pass. The game has been delighting players around the internet, as well as those of us at Agents of Game. One especially nice feature of the game is that it actually works surprisingly well on release, an increasingly rare quality in modern games.
Thanks for tuning in to the Agency Brief, and may all your missions be successful.
