Surprise! Official Agents of Game Servers!

Hey there, you awesome person you! Maybe you’ve played with us on some of our servers in the past, but sadly, those really weren’t our servers. They were servers we were renting from other server hosts. That’s great and all, but over the years the cost of renting server access has really added up. So we’re now going to be hosting our own servers at our main location starting very soon! We’ll be starting with some of the classics, like Minecraft, Terraria, Ark, and Valheim, and branching out as time goes on (especially when the Unreal 5 version of Ark releases). This will give us more flexibility in how we set up servers, and in the event something goes wrong, we won’t have to wait for tech support in another country to get back to us, we can manage it ourselves on site.

In addition to our officially hosted servers where we’ll be playing, we will also be hosting private servers, for people who want to enjoy games without randoms griefing them every five minutes. For those situation, we’re ready to help you get the settings you want, and the performance you need.

We’re not just using someone’s old computer or Raspberry Pi, either. We’ve already purchased one enterprise-level server, which we’re upgrading as I’m typing this. By the end of this year we hope to have a couple more. Unfortunately, servers and related equipment…well, they aren’t cheap. For example, while we already have some excellent high-speed managed switches, the fancy 48 port POE switch we’d love to snag can run into the four figures easily, and that’s just one component of our network. Another challenge is that these things use a lot of energy. We’re doing our best to hunt for the best deals we can find on the best quality parts, that will be as energy-efficient as they can be.
