Looking to get your fix of sci-fi, fantasy, or comic-related material, but aren’t sure where to look (hint: our site is always a good start)? It looks like an interesting option is about to roll out, as Lionsgate and Comic Con International (the big San Diego Comic Con) have partnered to form a new subscription-based on-demand service which should see the light of day before the year’s end.
“The new service will launch with a broad portfolio of content including original short-form content created exclusively for the channel’s subscribers, films and television series from Lionsgate and other studios designed to appeal to the diverse interests of Comic-Con’s fan base as well as exclusive archived footage from Comic-Con’s 45-year history. As part of the new channel, the two companies will also work closely to make the Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival (CCI-IFF) a 365-day-a-year online event.”
Plenty of details were released by their newswire posting, but we’re still waiting for more specifics regarding the content that will be available upon release, what the subscription itself entails, and how much content might cost beyond the subscription fee. If you’re interested in registering for more information on joining the program, you can submit your email address to their site for updates.
