Yes, you read the title right. Agents of Game are going to the 50th anniversary Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January, 2017. Dave Martin (it’s weird writing about myself in third person) will be joined by Shawn Morrison, whose melodious tones regularly grace our podcast, as well as Matt Peters, Agent 13. If we can round up a bit more funding (wink wink), there’s a really good chance we can bring even more of us to cover the event.
For those who might not know Matt as well (not Matt Moyer, who is also regularly on the podcast), Mr. Peters is also cohost of the GCPD Podcast, and Digital Dumpster Diving (with Dave), and host of Cast-a-Day as well as Since Last We Spoke. He’s also on the board of organizers for the Chicago Nerd Social Club, the editor-in-chief of Mighty Ink Comics & Entertainment, and somewhere amidst all of that, he occasionally sleeps. We think.
What is CES, you ask? Well, that’s a good question. As one of the biggest trade events in the world, CES is the premier showcase of technology and innovation. With around 4,000 exhibitors, the event is expected to draw over 165,000 visitors from 150 countries. As the Consumer Technology Association themselves say:
“From tech powerhouses to innovative startups, companies big and small from all industries come to CES to introduce the latest innovation to the global market. Exhibitors feature products from all facets of tech, from audio, vehicle technology and wireless to drones, augmented and virtual reality, 3D printing, sensor tech and more. Manufacturers, developers and suppliers gather at CES to not only showcase game-changing technology to the world, but to also build strong business relationships with new and existing industries.”
If you’d like to see a bit more of who is going to be attending and exhibiting, here’s an alphabetical list as well as a list based on industry. If there is some technology that you’d like to see, or a company you’d like us to talk to, let us know and we’ll do our best to make it happen.
Also, watch this space for more articles, videos, and more as we lead up to, cover, and then wrap up our experiences at CES. Not only will you get to catch plenty of tech, but also quite a bit of our antics as well. And maybe, if we’re lucky, it’ll get a little bit #Resnackulous as well.
