What’s new with the update coming September 8th to Fallout 76? And why have they started doing updates on days other than Tuesdays? Well, we can’t answer that one, but as for what’s coming, there’s a few things which may be of interest for you and your fellow Wastelanders.
SCOREBOARD SEASON 6
Firstly, we’ll be getting Season 6 of the Scoreboard, which focuses on the Wasteland’s favorite superhero group of yore, The Unstoppables! You’ll be able to unlock outfits from these heroes’ sidekicks, Mistress of Mysteries themed power armor skins, as well as a sweet-looking samurai power armor skin as you progress through the scoreboard.
Season 6 also brings two new Allies to the game in Daphne and Maul, and you will be able to unlock them by reaching ranks 25 and 50, respectively. They won’t send you on quests, but they will keep you company in your C.A.M.P., sell you some of the items they’ve managed to scavenge, and give you a buff once per day.
- Daphne – By day, Daphne is a child of the Wasteland. At night, she transforms into her alter ego, The Inspector! In exchange for some Caps, she’ll sell you toys, snacks, and drinks. She’ll also offer two different buffs, depending on what time of day you speak with her. During the day, Daphne will grant you some bonus Luck and the ability to identify magazines and comics more easily. As The Inspector, she’ll cast a spell to increase your Perception, help you find more food from containers, and extra caps from caps stashes.
- Maul – As soon as you meet Maul, you’ll quickly realize that this talkative Super Mutant is obsessed with his hero, Grognak. Speak with Maul each day to earn his trust and learn more about him. You will be able to buy various types of meat and meat-themed plans from him, and the buff he has to share will improve your Strength, increase your rad resistance, and make your melee weapons feel lighter in your hands.
If you’re looking for a full breakdown of all of the rewards, and what Scoreboard level you’ll need to unlock them, you’ll find the full list over here.
PUBLIC/CUSTOM WORLDS
Probably the biggest thing we’re looking forward to here at Agents of Game is the addition of Custom Worlds. Note that while you can create a clone of your adventure character to bring over to custom worlds, any progress your character makes there won’t transfer back (otherwise it would be super easy to cheese levels and such). Public Worlds are a specific type of Custom Worlds that will be available to everyone on a temporary basis, and Bethesda will rotate through various settings they think we might enjoy. Subscribers to Fallout First can also create their own private worlds with their own rulesets to enjoy by themself or with friends. And if their friends also have Fallout First, they can (once approved) join in that world even when the owner is offline.
What are some of the settings that will come with Custom Worlds? There’s a lot of tweaking that can be done, and we’ll cover more of that in a separate post once the update comes out, but a few of the options are making hordes of enemies intermittently spawn around the player, to increase the intensity of the game, reduce building restrictions so you can build larger bases in more locations, infinite ammo, and much, much more. Given that progress won’t carry over to the main game, we won’t necessarily be spending a ton of time in Custom Worlds, but creative folks can likely make some really fun scenarios for great game nights. We’ll definitely be streaming some of our best creations, and spotlighting excellent ideas we see from others in the community. Let us know about some good ones you see on Discord, Reddit, Twitter, or MySpace. That’s still a thing, right?
DAILY OPS EXPANSION II
Another expansion to Daily Ops is also coming on Wednesday! New locations include Arktos Pharma Biome Labs, Watoga High School, and Uncanny Caverns. There will also be new enemy types and intermittent double mutation double reward events. Enemies will have two mutations, and the rewards for braving the events should be boosted as well!
NUCLEAR WINTER REWARDS
As you may or may not know, Nuclear Winter will be disappearing alongside the update, so what happens next? Here’s the notes straight from Bethesda: “Everyone who completed at least one Nuclear Winter match will receive a special Nuclear Winter-themed pennant that they can build in their C.A.M.P.s. These will be added to players’ accounts within the week or two following the Fallout Worlds Update. On patch day, all players who participated in Nuclear Winter mode will receive Perk Coins based on their Nuclear Winter progress. You’ll get six Perk Coins per Nuclear Winter Perk Card you earned, up to a maximum of 600, as well as one Perk Coin per Overseer Ticket you earned, up to a maximum of 200.
Nuclear Winter also offered lots of cosmetic rewards that you could achieve by climbing the Overseer Ranks. We plan to transition the majority of these items into the reward pools for a number of in-game events, so that players who did not manage to unlock them in Nuclear Winter can still have a shot at claiming them.”
Here are the events that have a chance to grant you Nuclear Winter cosmetics on completion:
- A Colossal Problem
- Encryptid
- Project Paradise
- Scorched Earth
- Limited Time Events: Festive Scorched & Treasure Hunter
The following items will remain exclusive to your progression in Nuclear Winter, and players will no longer be able to earn them once the mode is offline:
- Bronze Nuclear Winter Trophy
- Silver Nuclear Winter Trophy
- Gold Nuclear Winter Trophy
- Bronze Nuclear Winter Statue
- Copper Nuclear Winter Statue
- Marble Nuclear Winter Statue
