Because your privacy is important to us, we DO NOT sell anyone’s information, and we DO NOT use those awful Taboola/Zergnet ads you’ve probably seen around. Having said that, we do use cookies on this website. Why?
Analytics: The only within-site cookies we use are from Google Analytics, to help us track user visits to the website. This helps us know what content people find most interesting and useful. We have limited time and resources, and so we’d rather put our effort into content people find engaging, instead of something no one will ever read. Beyond that, one of our goals is to cover events in person (E3, PAX, Comic Cons, etc.). Many of these events have specific requirements to consider places for media passes, which require analytics to verify.
Minimal Affiliate Link Cookies: So the short version is that what we do costs money, and we try to defer some of those costs with limited affiliate links (Amazon, for example). While you shouldn’t receive a cookie from our affiliate links by using the site, if you choose to click on an affiliate link, then it’ll give you a temporary cookie so that we’ll receive a tidbit of compensation in the event that you purchase/subscribe to a service after clicking through our links. Okay, so that wasn’t a short version, but it’s kind of a complicated deal.
So if you’ve gotten this far, we’ll simply summarize by saying that we use cookies in the most limited way we find reasonable. We’d rather forego advertising revenue than risk your security and privacy, but we do allow limited cookies so we can serve you better, and hopefully not go broke while doing so.
